Kenchington was an agriculturist and author, best known for ''The Commoners' New Forest'', one of the core texts on the New Forest area of South and South West England, and was an Associate of the ''Imperial College of Tropical Agriculture'', Trinidad.〔Kenchington, F.E. “The Commoners' New Forest” (1944) p. 3〕 His family were local to the district, and he moved there during World War II as part of the County War Agricultural Committee.〔Short, Brian.
